What's in your make up bag?

Hey bloggies,

Today I decided to share my favs from my make up bag!

To be completely honest, most of my money goes to clothes & shoes but I am beginning to realize how important it is to keep up with the make up trends.  I always did my make up the same whether it was day time or night time.....BIG MISTAKE! However, I will not change the fact that I like the natural look.  Anything that looks way too cakey on the face is a no go in my books.  I like light foundation, bronzer, blush, cat eye liner, mascara (duh!) and some gloss:)

Left: Superbalanced powder makeup {Clinique} They discontinued this :(
Right: almost powder make up $25{Clinique}
Bottom: advanced concealer $16.50{Clinique}

Can you tell I like Clinique?
This concealer is my amazing.  I don't get dark circles however, I wake up with bags and this helps hide them once I blend it.  I like to add some to the top of my nose, the sides of my chin, and under my bottom lip.

I am recently obsessed with this product.  Everyone should use BB cream.  I decided to go the cheap route.  Loreal makes a good one and for only $13!

These are the three main blushes I like!
Left: Twinkle Pink $3{elf}
Right: Fushia Fushion  $3{elf}
Bottom: Fruit Cocktail $19{bare escentuals}

In the winter I get pretty fair, so a fun pink is a nice color to add :)

 {1} They're Real $23 {Benefit}  Bestseller & My fav!
{2} Chubby Stick shadow tint $16{Clinique}
{3} Brown liquid liner $7.49{Almay}
{4} Black liquid liner $12{Sephora} My fav
{5}Heavy metal glitter eyeliner $18{Urban Decay}
You can never go wrong with some glitter!

Left: The bronzed & the Beautiful {Too faced}
Right: Mineralize Skinfinish Natural: Medium Dark $30{MAC}
I love a little bronzer, it gives you that sun kissed look:)
I use the skinfinsh as my foundation in the summer...I barely wear much in the summer.

I'm still growing my collection.  Let us know some of your fav's from your make up bag!

Vintage Crafts

Today I want to share one of my greatest passions and that is turning an oldie, into a beauty! Here I found a vintage cart from a good friend who was selling it for a good price!

First thing I did was sand every inch of it so that the paint would stick!  I then wiped it down with a dry rag to make sure no dust particles were left on it.  I used Annie Sloan Chalk paint {AMAZING STUFF}  This paint is very easy to work with & doesn't need much prepping at all.  You can paint on wood, metal, matt plastic or terracotta.  I have seen people use it on walls, ceilings and floors too!  I used the color Old White.  In order for me to make the paint go on smoothly and thinner, I added just a little bit of water.  I then took sand paper and sanded the edges to give it a little vintage inspired look.  To finish the look, you can add wax.  Annie Sloan has a dark wax and a clear wax.  I decided to use a clear wax to finish the look and give it some gloss and protection.  My cart has two coats of paint and 1 coat of wax and its done!

This is now one of a few pieces that I have collected for my rental business. I am so excited to use it as a cute lemonade cart at a baby shower, or a prop for engagement photos or as piece for a wedding.
What do you all think?

DIY - Decorate and Accessorize

If you're anything like me, you have a weakness for accessorizing. I don't believe an outfit to be complete without a little extra bling. I recently redecorated my room and found affordable, creative ways to display my most favorite accessories.

Initial hooks -Anthropologie $14 each
I hang all of my necklaces to keep them from tangling.
Add detail to your wall by centering each letter in a frame.

You can even hang a colorful scarf to brighten up your wall.

Display your bracelets on your favorite wine bottles and add a flower for a pop of color.

Here I display bracelets, earrings, and rings on a hand painted sushi plate.

There are endless ways to display your accessories with various household items. Get creative and post some of your ideas!

Happy Birthday LC

Yesterday was Lauren Conrad's birthday & we wanted to dedicate a post to her since both me and C have looked up to her since our freshman year of high school!  We were always team LC, I mean even our initials say it all.  We watched her through all her seasons of Laguna Beach, The Hills and now we look up to her as a stylist and author.  We enjoyed watching the transformation she made from high school to today and learning from her mistakes with friendships and boy issues!

In dire need of her style book

I enjoy reading Beauty & using it as decor on my coffee table!

Motivate Yourself - Get Fit!!

Starting an exercise routine and staying motivated are the two biggest hurdles people face when accomplishing a fitness goal. Here are a few techniques I learned during my Health Science undergrad to help you start and stick to your fitness goals (you can also apply these techniques to other goals you have in your life!!)

1. Set a Goal

Set yourself a reasonable goal tailored to your likes and needs. Do you want to gain more endurance? Do you want to run in a marathon without stopping? Do you want to lose inches or pounds? Start with one goal at a time and make sure your goals are measurable (miles, weight, inches, reps) for when you track your progress. Find out why you want to get fit and post a picture or a quote in a place where you can see it every day to remind you of your goal.

2. Make a Plan

Set yourself a strict fitness schedule. Each week make a plan of what time you will work out each day, what workouts you will do, and where. Making a schedule will leave room for no excuses.

3. Find your Obstacles

Have you tried to stick to a workout program in the past and failed? What got in the way of your success? Find out what obstacles get in the way of your goals and make a plan to overcome them.

For example, most people struggle with making time for their new goal. Don't make time stop you from reaching your goals. Wake up earlier and go to the gym, go on a walk during you lunch break, etc. If you want to achieve your goals, you will make time for it (which is why making yourself a plan is essential).

4. Make it Enjoyable

Find workouts that work for you! A fun workout will help you stick with a program. (I like to hike!) Each person has different likes and needs and not every fitness program will work for everyone. Make fitness fun so it won't feel like a chore!

5. Find a Buddy

Grab a friend and hit the trails! Having a workout buddy is a good way to keep yourself accountable while making fitness fun! Share your fitness goals and schedule with your friend and have him/her motivate you to keep going.

6. Track your Progress

Keep track of your workouts and schedule through a journal or blog. Include how you felt after each workout and what did and did not work for you. Also, having a measurable goal will allow you to visually see your progress from beginning to end as your numbers go up or down. Seeing your improvements will fuel you to keep going!

Journaling is a great way to see if your fitness plan is working for you. If you find that your goals are not being met, don't give up or lose hope! Go back and reevaluate your plan. Is there another obstacle in your way? Did you stick to your schedule? Are you regularly increasing your workouts? Tracking your workouts helps you measure your progress and evaluate your fitness needs and goals.

7. Reward Yourself

Give yourself a reward for your workouts! If you're like me and love to shop, put a dollar in a jar every time you workout; once you have $100 in the jar, treat yourself to a shopping spree! If you don't want to spend money, reward yourself with a day to yourself - free of workouts.

8. Make it a Lifestyle

Remember the hardest part about a workout program is getting started! So put on your sweats, tie up your shoes, and get your booty to the gym! That's the hardest part! Even if you go to the gym for 10 minutes and leave, get yourself in the habit if GOING. That is the number one struggle in weight loss success and obtaining your goals. Once you're in the habit of making gym time a part of your daily routine, rev up your workouts weekly and watch your fat melt!

How do you stay motivated toward your fitness goals?
